So long...

Last week I took the 10 inch challenge and dare I say I survived. OK so there isn't such thing as a 10 inch challenge...I just chopped my hair to 10 inches. I was hoping to donate it to Locks of Love but I think my hairdresser was appalled by the tangles off my head I called hair. She thought I took off about 10 inches. Hey 10 and 10...that means my hair was 20 inches...way too much for me to take care of.
Good bye long lushish locks, we had our good and bad days(more bad than good). Sorry to say it but I don't miss you one bit.

I've been wanted to cut my hair short since I can remember but my awful incident in Jr. High was a constant nightmare. I learned a lesson, don't let your awkward years of not realizing when to stop putting on make-up and how to use hair products hold you back.

ewe...makes me cringe.

Born under unusual circumstances

F. Scott Fitzgerald is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. So I have only read two and a half of his works, but what I've read I've loved. This December one of his short stories is going to be shown on the big screen.

If you have a free day, nay hours, go find a copy of this book and read it. It is full of humor and makes you appreciate life. It is a story of a child named Benjamin Button who is born as an old man and grows young. Mark Twain commented on the story saying, "It's a pity that the best part of life came at the beginning and the worse part at the end."

Gift yourself on Christmas and go see this picture show...great actors, interesting story, fabulous time period...sure to win some gold men. Watch the trailer.

Lab Rat

Being an exercise science major you get to take some pretty neat classes. My Athletic Training lab teacher is a grad student who's working on his dissertation. He's doing his study on how to strengthen the abdomen. I am one of his lucky lab rats. Three times a week I do four exercises and then once a week I go in and have my stomach slathered with jelly for an ultrasound. He's measuring the thickeness of my transversus abdominis and tracking the growth for six weeks. It's about the coolest thing you've ever seen.
So don't be surprised if in six weeks I have a stomach better than Jessica Alba. Maybe I'll tell you my secrets...for a price.

Orange Vanilla Sky

The sunset was beautiful as I pulled into Provo last night. I rushed down to Utah lake to try and capture the pink, orange, and yellow pastels in the clouds, but I was too late. It was still stunning though.

I think I just found my new haven.

Where was I all weekend?

The golf carts give some of it away, but guess you can't guess where. Give up? OK, I was up in Rexburg, ID visiting my brother, Graig. Since Graig is quite the golfer and I needed to play some rounds of nine for my golfing class...I killed two birds with one stone with the visit. Graig entertained me with some Delicious Deep Fried Delights for dinner and I decided to make my own little twist with Deloris(the deep fryer).
Pumpkin Bites!

Graig didn't think they were as good as eating a pie straight from the pan, but I thought they were quite interesting in a delicious kind of way. Possibly better than Sonic...maybe not.

I am convinced that Rexburg is a nice little town. Great weather, beautiful mountains, small population(compared to Provo), and nice little restaurants (the only place you'll find fresher ice cream is from a cow in the winter time.)

So, Thanks GRAIG!!!

and the winner is...

Congrats Leanne! "Nice girl finishes last with tightly-edited collection of folded pleats & dreamy gauze"- bluefly.com. My birthday is coming up, someone can get me her skirt from the last post.

Hooray for Tim Gunn being a judge. Even though it didn't add much testosterone to the panel, I was sure happy to see him there.

PS...the creme brulee was divine!

To cook...

Recently I've been really into cooking. I'd like to think it's a way to get away from homework, but regardless I'm still learning something. Thanks to good ol' Betty Crocker and my mom for giving this cookbook to me...here are some receipes I've tried...

Banana Creme Pie...

It didn't look as pretty as the picture but it still tasted delicious. I didn't know how much work I was getting myself into when I started it but I'm happy I made it

Puffy Oven Pancake...
I had my first puffy pancake this summer when I visited the Rosells at my house. It is super easy and a delicious morning treat. You can whip it up, throw it in the over, jump in the shower and eat it right after. Goes great with some lemon juice!!

Peach cobbler...
My relatives keep a garden every summer and I am lucky enough to reap the benefits of it. I had about 20 plus peaches and thought...peach cobbler sounds delicious. I actually made it for a Stake Reunion we held at my place, but no one ate it. Left more for me.

Pecan Maple Chicken...

I made this dish last night for dinner but it didn't turn out as good as I wanted it to. The maple made our upstairs smell for the rest of the night (good or bad? ask my roommates). It was really fast and easy but I don't know if I'll be doing it again.

Cornmeal Chicken with Peach Salsa...

This little meal was so good. Like I said above, I had tons of peaches sitting around so I thought I'd try something different. I cooked up and extra chicken to eat the next day, wrapped it in a tortilla with the salsa...sooo good.

Creme Brulee...Probably one of my favorite desserts...give me some creme brulee and I'll give you whatever you want. Target at 2 ramekins for $1 on their dollar spot so I picked up some and had to make some. I just made it and it's chilling now, but I'm sure it will be mouth watering

Don't get me wrong I still have my canned soup meals and pasta nights. I can ignore my homework for so long.

You can find the receipes for these creations here...http://bettycrocker.com/

Are you proud of me Mom and Dad?

Project Addicted

Wednesday nights at 10 pm get out of my way because Project Runway is on. Because Bravo doesn't have that many shows to schedule I think I've seen every season all the way through three times. Even after five seasons of this, I'm still addicted. The designers get more interesting, Tim Gunn comes up with better catch phrases, Michael Kors gets more flamey(still love you Michael), Nina Garcia's hair never changes, and Heidi Klum gets more fabulous. I think my favorite parts of each episode is when the designers show their creations and whenever Ms. Klum walks out. Her clothes are fabulous, she is stunning, and everything in between.
As much as I loathe Kenley and her beez attitude, if I was a betting girl, I'd put money down on her victory. Her collection is classy, flirty, and fun. This dress screams Betsey Johnson though...
I hope I'm wrong...I'd love to see Leanne or Korto win it because this work is amazing

I'll just have to wait till next week...the suspense is killing me.

Snow time

So you know it's time to put away your bathing suits and shorts and bring out the sweaters and gloves when snow appears on the mountains in Utah. I was really excited when it rained all weekend, it was just an extra excuse to stay in, but it also meant that fall is around the corner. As much as I love the California days, always seeing the sun and driving down to the beach anytime of the year, I've really enjoyed winters up in Utah.
Soon those beautiful babies will be covered with snow and begging to be boarded down. There's nothing like the cold snow on your face after you eating it hard coming down the mountain...I mean. From what I've seen it looks invigorating.
